l got mine done about 6 weeks ago and l was reading about this girl whose b button piercing got rejected. l got really scared and checked the mirror and realised that mine too was hanging a little looser than it was when l first got it. But then l read somewhere else that because my swelling just went down, it appears looser. Is this true? Also, if it is rejecting how do l stop it?

How do I recognize/prevent belly button piercing rejection

If you're not having pain or irritation of any kind, then it probably is just the swelling. If ur piercing starts rejecting, it wo not just be a matter of the bar looking longer. The bar will be shallower & the holes for the piercing will gradually move. It is usually a pretty slow process. There is usually a trail of sorts behind the holes as they become migrate, a pink/red line of scar tissue. I've had mine for almost 10 years & it is exactly where it was when I first got it done. I still use my original bar almost all the time, & if I move it where the bottom bead is flush with the hole, there is about 1/8 inch of bar to spare. Note, u should not be pushing on yours & moving it around yet, I am just saying mine is all healed & I have that amount of bar to spare. A lot of people have trouble with navel piercings, but I've always had the theory a lot of that has to do with their popularity & the irresponsible people getting them.so if u treat it well, u will most likely be fine. Of the responsible people I know, no one is had problems with theirs. And also, the neosporin idea is bad- it wo not let the piercing breathe. Just stick to simple washing in the shower with a gentle, gragrance free soap & doing ur sea salt soaks. And leave it alone- every time u touch it, u risk getting bacteria or other irritants in it.

You can not stop rejection.
All you can do is clean it.

you can not really stop it, but since it has been 6 weeks, I think your in the clear.

sometimes it is the type of metal that causes that problem..

It is expensive but gold or platinum typically wo not do tat to you

If ur piercing is starting to reject, there really is not any way to stop it other than to take the jewelry out.

You can usually tell if you're about to have a rejection with a surface piercing (which is what a navel, eyebrow, & nipple piercing qualifies as in addition to all the other surfaces u can get done) because the skin is very thin over the piercing. Some people can see the jewelry through the piercing. (and I am not just talking about see the bump from it.I mean actually see the metal)

You will also have a sensation of irritation at the very least & at the worst a lot of pain if ur piercing is about to reject.

As long as u take care of & occasionally check ur piercing.you should be fine. Most people do not experience rejection for YEARS.but most surface piercings will eventually reject no matter how well u take care of them.

I have a belly button piercing & I have the same problem. I have had it done twice because the first piercing was rejected. It was really sore after I first got it pierced, but then the soreness never went away. It had gooey looking stuff coming out of it, & it was bright red. I eventually had to take it out. That was a sure sign that the piercing was rejected. I recently got my navel repierced, & it is doing a lot better. It was sore when I first got it done, but now I hardly notice it. It is looser when I first got it done, but this is normal because when u get it pierced, the skin around it is swollen, but once it starts to heal, the swelling goes down & the piercing gets looser. To keep from getting ur piercing rejected, wash with something that does not have any perfume in it, like Ivory soap, & clean ur jewelry & navel area with a salt water solution (I use H2Ocean spray). I also used an antibiotic creme like Bactine & Neosporin when it was first healing. I hope this helps!
